- The 13th edition of the African Games, which will include approximately 3,000 competitors from 49 countries over 16 days in 29 different sports, officially kicked underway in Ghana. Akufo-Addo, the president of Ghana, formally launched the event, which was attended by sportsmen, artists, and celebrities from 48 African nations.
- The last day of the Games is March 23, 2024. Accra will host the event, which featured participation from nations including Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Gabon, and Gambia; other countries involved were Morocco, Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroun, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Congo, Cote d’Ivoire, Djibouti, DR Congo, and Egypt. - Mustapha Ussif, Minister of Youth and Sports, guaranteed an unforgettable contest. Participating nations were asked by Akufo-Addo to participate honorably, with good sportsmanship, fair play, and impartial regard. - Under the direction of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Ghana has been given the opportunity to host the 13th African Games. The best multisporting discipline facilities in the area will be made available by the Games for training and competitive reasons. Moussa Faki Mahamat, the president of Ghana, commended his country for its large expenditures in infrastructure and sports facilities for the Games. Dr. Asare also acknowledged the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA), the Technical Commission for the African Games (TCAG), and the African Union Sports Council (AUSC) for their crucial advice.
- Following the remarks, a 40-minute display that included dance, lighting, pyrotechnics, and performances by well-known African artists, exhibited the customs and heritage of all 16 regions of Ghana.
