- A “threat of attack” prompted the evacuation of French airports on Wednesday in response to communications indicating a potential threat.
- In order to provide local officials with clarification about any uncertainties surrounding the email messages transmitted to the ports, passengers at airports located in Lille, Lyon, Nantes, Nice, Toulouse, and Beauvais were evacuated.
- Additionally, the airports in Pau and Biarritz were evacuated. Eight French airports were placed on notice after threats via email were received.
- The evacuations followed many bomb threats that surfaced in France following the October 7 terrorist incident in the Gaza Strip by Hamas. On Friday, October 13, a man posing as an Islamic State member attacked a teacher in the northern city of Arras.
- The French DGAC aviation office spokeswoman just mentioned that the evacuation was taking place because of bomb threats, without going into any further information.
- In the instance of Nice airport, following the abandonment of a suspicious package, a safety zone was created; eventually, everything resumed as before. Three aircraft have been reported delayed at Lille Airport with security personnel working on site.
- Not all passengers knew why they were being evacuated, and many felt lost.
