- The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has received an apology from Dome-Kwabenya Constituency Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo for her recent actions. She made it clear that her acts were unintentional and the consequence of problems with her personal life. She also begged for pardon from the party’s regional and constituency leaders as well as the Majority Caucus.
- Safo recently had a face-to-face meeting with President Akufo-Addo, and her decision to be “axed” from Parliament was challenged in the Supreme Court. In a two-minute video message posted to her Facebook page, she apologized for her behavior and begged her supporters to accept her apology.
- Adwoa Safo appeared before the Parliamentary Privileges Committee in 2022 after being away for more than a year. Her seat’s status became a matter of dispute as fellow Majority members argued against National Democratic Congress (NDC) MPs and called for its declaration as empty. On the basis of the Committee’s findings, the Speaker has not yet made a decision.
- The former minister of procurement announced her desire to take part in the party’s primaries for the 2024 elections upon her arrival in Ghana from the US.
