- Reopened is the Gomoa Okyereko stretch of the Accra-Cape Coast route, which collapsed due to an overflowing Ayensu River that flooded the region and buried a large amount of farmland.
- Traffic on the main Accra-Winneba highway was disrupted when the Ayensu River was redirected by a contractor working on the Kasoa-Cape Coast Highway.
- Residents are stranded due to the water, and the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) reports that they are being forced to seek shelter at a nearby church.
- The Gomoa East District director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Robert Nana Hackman, stated that the road reopened on Thursday at approximately 9 p.m. following repairs in an interview with Kwaku Nhyira-Addo on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Friday, June 7.
- “Yesterday, with the help from the district engineer and the contractor himself, we were able to fix the road and it was opened around 9.34pm,” Hackman said.
- He stated, “As of right now, the road diversion has been closed, and drivers and passengers traveling from Kasoa to Winneba, Apam, Mankessim, Takoradi, and Cape Coast can now use the old road.”
- Meanwhile, NADMO has supplied the residents of the area affected by the flooding with relief items.
