- A huge migrant camp in Vitry-sur-Seine, France, has been evacuated by Paris police only one hundred days before the 2024 Summer Olympics get underway.
- There were about 450 migrants living in the camp, most of them were young males, but some of them were also moms with little children.
- Rights organizations worry that by being evicted and unable to receive long-term housing help, those who are evicted will be even more vulnerable.
- Because of the Olympics, the squat became the largest in France and doubled in size in a single year.
- 300 individuals were forcefully taken from the location on Wednesday, and according to the authorities, the eviction operation would go for many days.
- A large number of the evicted were loaded into buses and sent to neighboring French towns.
- Concerns were also expressed by certain groups about how the relocation would affect school-age children who are being uprooted from the squat.
