- Due to improper timing of her rest breaks, Ghanaian singer Afua Asantewaa’s attempt at a sing-a-thon in December 2023 was excluded from the Guinness World Records. PR Executive Alina Polianskaya made the decision, stating that these guidelines apply to all Guinness World Records “longest marathon” records.
- Due to issues gaining access to her GWR site, Afua had not received a letter or message from Guinness World Records and stated that no explanation for her disqualification had been given. She said that she had just heard from the GWR on February 27 and that she had not received a letter or message from them since February 26.
- Afua thanked the people of Ghana for their overwhelming support, saying she would be happy to try again if no one else offered to help. She conveyed her appreciation to Ghanaians and her will to carry on with her career.
- Ghanaian artist Shatta Wale has defended Afua Asantewaa after she was disqualified, saying that she is the Yaa Asantewaa of our time and that Guinness World Records breached their contract by revealing the findings.
