- The Talk’s former co-host Julie Chen Moonves has made it known that she is leaving the CBS daytime program after five years. After eight years as a co-host, Julie Moonves said she will not return in September 2018, following her husband Les Moonves’ resignation as CEO of the network amid claims of sexual misconduct. She cited spending more time with her family as the reason for her choice.
- Julie stated her wish to spend more time at home with her husband and their kid Charlie during her tearful video message. She said the group had spent many “wonderful years together” and treasured their memories. She also thanked the viewers for letting her into their residence each day.
- Just over a week after her husband’s resignation as the network’s CEO, The Early Show alum announced her departure. Les Moonves, who held the role for more than ten years, announced his resignation hours after the New Yorker published a piece outlining six women’s complaints of sexual misconduct. Les said in his statement that “untrue allegations from decades ago are now being made against me that are not consistent with who I am.” Les also refuted the accusations made against him.
- Les Moonves announced in her statement that he will step down as chairman and CEO of CBS and expressed his regret and thanks for the company, the newly assembled board of directors, and all of its staff.
