- Danelo Cavalcante, a murderer who escaped from an eastern Pennsylvania prison two weeks ago, is now thought to be “armed and extremely dangerous” after he stole a weapon from a nearby resident’s garage. Cavalcante was shot many times by the homeowner as he ran away, but there is no evidence that he was hurt. Cavalcante was discovered wearing a green sweatshirt and a white t-shirt next to the driveway, and it is thought that he is currently attempting to stay alive and elude capture.
- The Pennsylvania State Police, FBI, ATF, and US Marshals are among the 500 law enforcement personnel scouring the scene of the incident. Several squad cars and an armored vehicle can be seen rushing to the site in South Coventry Township in video from WPVI overnight. Cavalcante is thought to be desperate and dangerous since he has a.22-caliber rifle with a scope and flashlight.
- Residents in the neighborhood received an emergency notice Monday night asking them to lock all external doors and windows, secure cars, and stay inside. Police had already sent out multiple reverse 911 calls to anyone within three miles alerting them of the threat. On Tuesday, numerous school districts declared that all classes will be held indoors, including the Owen J. Roberts School District in Chester County.
- The lengthy search was justified by law enforcement, who said that they were attempting to discover a needle in a haystack.
- Gov. Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania has voiced support for the Pennsylvania State Police’s attempts to apprehend Danelo Cavalcante, who is wanted for the first-degree murder of his ex-girlfriend Deborah Brando. Cavalcante was detained in Virginia and is sought for in Brazil for a 2017 killing. By climbing up to the roof, pushing through razor wire, racing across a roof, scaling a different fence, and getting through additional razor wire, he managed to escape from captivity.
- In the Chester County region, Cavalcante has been seen several times, including numerous occasions in a botanical garden. Police set up a search perimeter around a region that was many square miles in size in an effort to apprehend him. But on Saturday, he removed his beard, stole a van, and went to the residences of persons he had known in the past more than 20 miles outside the search area. At the moment, neither was at home.
- Eleni Cavalcante, the sister of the fugitive, was detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement after refusing to assist in the manhunt. She is now being deported due to her overstay status. Erin Burnett was “less than a month away” from being arrested, US Marshals Service Supervisory Deputy Robert Clark informed CNN’s Erin Burnett on Monday.
- Locals have reported hearing gunshots from their neighbors and phoning the police as the search for Cavalcante continues. Monday night there were unusual gunshots reported, with Cavalcante sounding like a.22. In order to find Cavalcante, the Pennsylvania State Police have arrived in full tactical gear and are clearing farm after barn.
- Currently on the lam, Cavalcante is looking for longer-term assistance and resources. Eleni Cavalcante, who is his sister, was detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement after refusing to assist in the search and is now in risk of being deported for having overstayed her visa.
